THE HOUSE
The Workshop and home of Pedro de Mena is one of the few living examples of Málaga domestic architecture from 17th century. It is situated in calle Afligidos, which today is a dead end street, although originally it was surrounded by narrow streets that can be still seen to the right of the entrance door.
Comprised of a ground floor, first floor and a second floor with sloped ceilings, the rooms are organized around a main central patio with covered galleries, where the Tuscan marble columns on the ground floor are highlighted and the high gallery with restored primitive design with octagonal wood shafts and masonry sills. Also worth mentioning are the main stairs, original woodwork and a small patio around which once was the kitchen, the water tank, the grain store and the pantry.
